Right to Write is a private limited
company and has been in existence since 1996; working
throughout the UK with dyslexic adults to help them overcome
the barriers and consequently fulfill their potential.
Our approach is different in that it
is holistic; we look at all the issues an adult with dyslexia
will face, such as the softer issues i.e.: lack of confidence,
fear of certain situations (such as reading out loud),
managing stress and boosting memory. This is in contrast to
traditional approaches which only address literacy which
is often not the primary problem within an employment
situation.
We work as a specialist contractor to
Jobcentre Plus through Work Preparation and other specialist
contracts helping those with hidden disabilities to gain or
retain employment. Another part of our service is in
advising employers to accommodate and consequently get the
best out of dyslexic employees. This is often a source of
great stress between Management and dyslexic staff as there
is little understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act
which asks employers to make ´reasonable adjustment´ for
an employee´s disability.
The Managing Director of Right to Write,
Elaine Ferguson MBE FRSA is Dyslexic, she along with the exceptional
team of people at Right to Write believe that with the
right support Dyslexic people can make a great contribution
